Fluid attention and crystallized attention are defined by the qualities of the director of the attention — not the attention itself. Fluid and crystallized are terms referring to the meta form of attention.
Fluid attention “is able to be applied independent of previous specific practices, instructions, or habits.”
Crystallized attention is rooted in prior learning, past experiences, and formed habits.
